Live Music Performance - Jasmine Guffond. Live Visuals - Ilan Katin

In Traced, utlising sounds she has generated via the sonification of digital surveillance technologies, Jasmine's music draws upon influences from experimental electronic, techno, song, and avant-garde. Working with abstract sound as much as traditional musical forms to create a concordant relationship between a sound that holds emotive power and musicality, and a sensitive study of sonic phenomena. Standing between waves of drone and minimal repetition, a surprising melodic twist into song or a fragile implosion into spectral noise, her live performance is simultaneously universal in its scope and intimate in its effect. She draws sonic portraits that manage to capture what normally eludes human perception turning peripheral data into deeply engaging compositions.

About Jasmine Guffond:

Jasmine Guffond is a sound artist and composer from Sydney, Australia who lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Focused on electronic composition across music and sound art contexts, her practice spans live performance, recording and the capacity of sound installation to interrogate site. Through the sonification of data she addresses the potential of sound to engage with contemporary political questions. She has performed live internationally at music and electronic art festivals and recorded music for CD and 12inch vinyl releases with the Staubgold, Monika Enterprise and Sonic Pieces labels. In 2016 she received the `Working Grant for New Music and Sound Art¿ from the Berlin Senate. A new album, "Traced" was released on the Sonic Pieces label in 2017.

Her music draws upon influences from experimental electronic, avant-garde and techno. Working with abstract sound as much as traditional musical forms to create a concordant relationship between a sound that holds emotive power and musicality, and a sensitive microscopic study of electro acoustic phenomena.

About Ilan Katin:
