Daniel Silvo. Montaña Negra

Daniel Silvo. Montaña Negra

December 19, 2016 - April 16, 2017

Curator: Daniel Silvo

Daniel Silvo has devised an artistic project in which seven people from very different fields in the art world come together to share space and experiences at this Centre for Contemporary Creation of Andalusia.

Montaña Negra [Black Mountain] is a reference to the multidisciplinary environment at Black Mountain College, an American university that thrived in the second quarter of the 20th century where poetry, painting, design, dance and other fields converged and were mutually enriched.

This space has become a collective laboratory where seven professionals, chosen in an open competition, are invited to work over a period of several months. The participants are accompanied by Jesús Alcaide, art critic, independent curator and codirector of CoMbO (Córdoba), and Óscar Fernández, exhibition curator and coordinator of the Vimcorsa exhibition hall and the Centro de Arte Pepe Espaliú (Córdoba), with whom they meet periodically to share ideas, concerns and doubts about their respective processes.

Through this experience, Daniel Silvo reflects on the fact that many contemporary art professionals have difficulty finding a place to work and on the different forms of art education, while also offering visitors a behind-thescenes look at how a work of art is materialised. Public activities, debates on current issues that affect artists, and tours for art professionals are organised in this space.
