Transitional Models. Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, MP & MP Rosado, SUPERFLEX

This presentation made from the works of architects and visual artists occupies the spaces adjacent to the studios and workshops that are used by artists-in-residence. It consists of a reflection upon the very notion of mock-up and model, and upon architecture, representation, and function, as a platform for research into its everyday uses. If art can speak to us as representation, the works selected here blur the once-sharp line between the utilitarian --the sketch-- and the finished product. A scale-model of the C3A, removed from its customary location in the architects' studio, enters into a dialogue with Ventanas Iluminadas (2005), by the MP & MP Rosado collective, while also interfering with the flowerpots by another collective; SUPERFLEX. Even so, and although they share some methodological elements, they establish quite diverse narratives, not to mention paradoxes, like that of admiring a model of a building from within the building.
