The Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía (C3A) is a space dedicated to contemporary creation and production, a place where artists can materialize their projects by researching, experimenting, generating and exhibiting their works.
The C3A is a place for interdisciplinary interaction and dialogue, for basic and advanced education and training, for citizen participation and, above all, for sharing, experiencing, feeling and enjoying the arts.
One of the primary objectives of the C3A is to make contemporary artistic languages more accessible to the general public, giving them a chance to discover not only finished works but also the creative process, the behind-the-scene efforts of each artist to make his/her idea a reality. Consequently, the programme of exhibitions, activities, workshops, etc. is designed for all audiences, with a strong emphasis on the visual and audiovisual arts as well as live performing arts, theatre, dance and even contemporary circus.
The newly inaugurated C3A aspires to become a vibrant hub of artistic creation and production in Andalusia. To this end, it has been equipped with over 1,000 m2 of workshop space for visual creation and audiovisual labs. These facilities can be used to develop projects in the areas of painting, metal and wood sculpture or ceramics or other media that rely on digital technology, such as photography and video. The centre also has media lab equipment and state-of-the-art technology, including a 3D printer and scanner. Yet another space, with nearly 600m2 of floor area, facilitates convergence with other disciplines, particularly in the live performing arts.
Additionally, a specific zone has been set aside for learning activities and entrepreneurial arts programmes, another of the centre's priorities. Several multi-purpose spaces have been created for microcultural programmes and small group activities in different fields, including literature. There is also a large area for family-friendly activities and a public green zone where outdoor activities for all ages will be held.
